Project overview

LH Block Electric’s work with Andy’s Frozen Custard began with complete electrical installations for new restaurant locations. Working as the electrical subcontractor to general contractors, our team coordinated the electrical scope with the broader construction schedule and the work of other trades.

After completing several locations, our involvement expanded into a direct relationship with the Andy’s corporate team for ongoing electrical service throughout Chicagoland.

Today, our experience includes five completed ground-up installations, a major renovation in Chicago’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood, completion assistance in Schaumburg, additional construction projects, and continued service at operating restaurants—including locations originally built by other electrical contractors.

Complete electrical construction for new restaurants

For the completed ground-up locations listed below, LH Block Electric provided the complete electrical installation. Across these projects, our work included building electrical systems, underground service infrastructure, restaurant equipment connections, and exterior site lighting.

The specific installation was coordinated around each location’s plans and site requirements.

Electrical service and power distribution

We installed electrical service equipment, panels, feeders, and branch circuits to support each restaurant’s electrical requirements.

Underground electrical service infrastructure

Our work included underground electrical service installations associated with utility transformer pads and electrical service feeds. This infrastructure supported the connection between the utility equipment and the restaurant’s electrical distribution system.

Interior and exterior lighting

We installed interior and exterior lighting and associated lighting controls as part of the restaurant construction scope.

Parking-lot pole lighting

Our scope included parking-lot pole lighting with precast pole bases, providing exterior illumination for customer parking areas and vehicle circulation.

Restaurant equipment connections

We installed dedicated circuits and electrical connections to supply the commercial equipment used in restaurant operations.

General electrical infrastructure

Our work included receptacles, switches, raceways, wiring, and related electrical infrastructure throughout the facility.

Construction coordination

We coordinated with general contractors and other trades to support installation sequencing, inspections, and project completion.

Completing multiple locations gave our team familiarity with Andy’s electrical layouts, equipment requirements, and construction expectations, while each project still required coordination around its particular site conditions.

Major renovation — Chicago / Garfield Ridge

Completed: 2024 | Existing Building Renovation

LH Block Electric performed the electrical construction for the major renovation of an existing building into an Andy’s Frozen Custard location in Chicago’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood.

Our scope included electrical service and distribution work, interior and exterior lighting, restaurant equipment power connections, branch circuits, and parking lot lighting. The installation supported the renovated building’s new layout and restaurant operations.

This project adds existing-building renovation experience to our Andy’s portfolio, alongside the ground-up electrical construction completed at other Chicagoland locations.

Additional electrical support — Schaumburg

LH Block Electric was brought in during the final stages of construction at the Schaumburg location to assist the electrical contractor already working on the project.

Our experience with other Andy’s locations helped our team understand the remaining scope and contribute to completion.

Ongoing electrical service for Andy’s corporate operations

Following the completion of several construction projects, LH Block Electric began working directly with the Andy’s Frozen Custard corporate team to provide electrical service and repairs throughout Chicagoland.

Our service work includes operating locations where we performed the original construction, as well as restaurants originally built by other electrical contractors.

This continued involvement allows our team to build familiarity with the facilities and their electrical systems over time. It also gives Andy’s an established electrical contractor to contact for ongoing needs as its regional operations grow.
