Electrical construction for indoor recreation

LH Block Electric provided electrical contracting services for Altitude Trampoline Park at Roscoe Square in Chicago’s Roscoe Village neighborhood. Completed in 2025, the project converted a former furniture store into an approximately 38,600-square-foot indoor recreation and entertainment facility.

Working with a local general contractor, our team upgraded the electrical service and completed the lighting, distribution, and equipment connections. We also helped revise the electrical scope to reduce project costs.

Our electrical scope

  • Service upgrade and distribution: Replaced the existing 800-amp service with a 1,200-amp service and installed electrical panels, circuits, and distribution equipment.
  • Underground service feeds: Trenched outside to the utility transformer and installed new conduit and conductors.
  • Lighting and controls: Installed lighting for activity areas and park storage, along with lighting controls.
  • Emergency lighting and exit signs: Installed emergency lighting and exit signage throughout the facility as required.
  • Fire alarm conduit installation: Installed conduit to accommodate the facility’s fire alarm wiring.
  • Equipment power: Installed circuits and electrical connections for attraction equipment and other equipment serving the park.
  • Signage and television locations: Provided electrical connections for concession and arcade signage and television locations throughout the facility.
THE CHALLENGE

Adapting the electrical plan to the project budget

During the design phase, before the project was awarded, ownership and the general contractor were looking for ways to bring the planned work within budget. LH Block Electric reviewed the electrical scope and identified opportunities to simplify the installation and reduce costs.

Two opportunities stood out: replacing the complicated existing lighting controls with a simpler system and value-engineering the lighting for the mezzanine storage area.

OUR SOLUTION

Simpler controls and value-engineered lighting

LH Block Electric eliminated the existing lighting control system in favor of a simpler approach using Lutron Pico controls, reducing the project’s cost.

For the mezzanine storage area, LH Block Electric recommended value-engineered light fixtures suited to the space’s intended use. This helped reduce lighting costs while providing the illumination needed for storage.

Ready for opening with upgraded power and lighting

LH Block Electric completed the electrical installation in time for the park’s opening and passed the required inspections. The former furniture store now had a 1,200-amp electrical service, power connections for the park’s equipment, and lighting suited to its activity and storage areas. Simplified lighting controls and value-engineered storage fixtures helped reduce project costs.
