HK Laser specializes in advanced laser-cutting machinery, automation systems, and industrial equipment, with its Bartlett location serving as a technical demonstration and support center.
Since 2023, LH Block has supported the facility through multiple projects involving high-capacity machinery power, electrical distribution modifications, warehouse and office lighting modernization, and repairs to existing electrical infrastructure.
The work has required adapting the building's electrical systems to accommodate changing equipment requirements while making practical use of the existing infrastructure.
Electrical Power for Industrial Machinery
A significant part of LH Block's work has involved providing electrical infrastructure to support HK Laser's industrial equipment and demonstration operations.
As new machinery was introduced and equipment locations changed, our electricians installed dedicated three-phase circuits, modified existing electrical distribution, and provided disconnecting equipment to accommodate varying power requirements.
One notable installation involved extending the facility's existing 480-volt power distribution to provide a new 400-amp disconnect for a large industrial machine. The project required routing substantial copper feeders through the building and integrating the new connection into the existing electrical infrastructure.
Additional improvements included dedicated power for industrial welding equipment and electrical connections supporting equipment changes throughout the facility.
Warehouse & Office Lighting Modernization
LH Block completed energy-efficient LED lighting upgrades across the company's warehouse, showroom, and office areas.
The work involved replacing aging metal-halide high-bay fixtures and outdated fluorescent lighting with modern LED technology. Networked occupancy controls were incorporated into the upgraded systems, allowing lighting operation to be adjusted to the needs of individual work areas.
LH Block also coordinated the projects' participation in ComEd's energy-efficiency incentive programs, completing the necessary documentation and securing incentive approvals for the qualifying lighting improvements.
These incentives helped offset the investment in updated lighting technology while supporting lower energy consumption and reduced maintenance requirements.
Additional electrical projects addressed exterior wall-mounted lighting, entrance canopy illumination, and other lighting needs throughout the property.
Electrical Troubleshooting & Infrastructure Repairs
Beyond planned improvements, LH Block has assisted HK Laser with electrical problems affecting existing building systems.
During one project, troubleshooting identified damaged underground conduit and wiring that had interrupted power to the office HVAC equipment and lighting.
Rather than attempting to reuse the compromised underground pathway, our team installed a replacement overhead conduit route through the warehouse structure to restore the affected electrical circuits.
This provided a practical repair solution that utilized the building's existing overhead infrastructure while avoiding unnecessary reconstruction of the damaged underground pathway.
