A local electrical partner for a substantial renovation.
LH Block Electric completed electrical improvements supporting the renovation of approximately 13,600 square feet of office space at Crown Lift Trucks’ Schaumburg facility. The work combined changes to the existing electrical infrastructure with an LED lighting upgrade and networked controls.
Working with an out-of-state general contractor, LH Block provided local electrical expertise and coordination throughout the renovation, adapting the installation to updated office layouts, workstations, employee facilities, and equipment requirements.
Workstation power beneath an existing floor
New furniture and workstation arrangements required power pathways beneath the existing concrete floor. Our team performed concrete saw-cutting and trenching, installed underground conduit, and restored the affected floor areas.
Throughout the renovated offices, LH Block modified and extended circuits, relocated devices, and provided new power connections. Additional work supported conference rooms, break areas, employee amenities, and equipment as the layout developed.
LED lighting with networked controls
The lighting modernization replaced aging fluorescent lighting with LED technology across approximately 189 ceiling fixtures. Individual fixture controls and wireless communication provided a more flexible approach to operating the lighting throughout the renovated office areas.
The retrofit reduced the lighting system’s connected load by approximately 8.9 kilowatts. Networked controls also help limit unnecessary lighting operation, supporting energy management across offices and common areas.
ComEd incentives to support the lighting investment
LH Block coordinated the incentive documentation and approvals associated with the lighting upgrade, including opportunities tied to reduced lighting energy consumption and advanced networked controls.
The project received approval for ComEd lighting-related incentives, helping offset the cost of the upgraded equipment and control system. Incorporating this coordination into the broader renovation helped Crown plan its investment in the new lighting.
Electrical infrastructure for the next office layout
The completed work provided power distribution suited to the renovated office environment and a lighting system with lower connected load and greater control flexibility.
For the general contractor, LH Block brought a local team capable of coordinating existing-building electrical modifications—from underground workstation feeds and floor restoration to lighting installation and utility incentive documentation.
